Looking back at an insightful year

Before I start, I want to thank Dr. Devdas Menon for showing me the light.
My heart fills with love when I think about his contributions.
He has been the most important teacher in my life.
Whenever I was lost, he gave me a direct pointer to The Absolute.
My favorite quote comes from his book Spirituality at Work.
He writes,

Instead of asking: what do I need to do to get there and be unconditionally happy?
How about asking: I am already there: what now?

Note: this blog is a bit random. I just typed whatever I felt…
I apologize if I turn out to be all over the place.
Maybe for some of the subsections,
I would be making separate detailed blogs in the future.

Timeless Wisdom

What should I say?
Words are empty.
Contentment is overflowing.
Gratefulness is all-pervading.
For I have realized, I am ever free!

This year I didn’t do much.
All I did was ask questions.
I kept asking without the greed of any answers.
I doubted.
I doubted more.
And more.
And more and more.
Above all, I doubted the doubter.
Suddenly the doubter ceased.
The seeking stopped.
Thus, The Life begin!!!

How?
When seeking stops, there’s nowhere to go.
Nowhere to go! Except, here and now.
Every moment becomes a frame.
A frame fully absorbed in the being!
What more can you get than being present in every moment?

This is was my 2021.
A beginning to a whole new life.
A life which prioritizes presence over protection.
A life full of uninvited adventures!
Who needs to run to find something new?
Isn’t every moment novel in itself?

This is the advice I have for you all.
Contemplate, what is this present moment?!
Why is it we lose awareness of the present moment?!
Where are we lost in such a condition?!
Enquire into it with sincerity and honesty.
Acknowledge every time you miss present moment awareness.
Let the nature guide you.

Focus on self-improvement

We are so used to living from a place of limited identity,
That most of us doesn’t even recognize this trap.
Those who do, make excuses like,
I can’t improve because… My family doesn’t support me.
I drank because… My friends were drinking.
I am trying to find fulfilment… But my work culture is toxic.

You can’t improve others. Full stop.
Everybody’s house is burning.
Focus on your house.
When you don’t waste time changing others,
Instead, you end up improving yourself,
Others automatically get inspired,
And join you in this journey!

Truly Present for Others

Talking isn’t about talking.
Anyone can talk.
No one wants to listen! Because everyone is frustrated.
What calamity you would bring by speaking in such a situation?
For sure, it would lead to total chaos.
True talking is more about listening.
Only a steady one could listen with all ears!

If for a moment, you would pause your chatter,
And truly hear someone else,
You will see how everyone is eager to express themselves.
Let them take refuge in you!!

So this is what I say,
Be humble!
Be the ear, to other’s desperate mouth.
Of course, speak.
But no matter what you say,
It should be minimal and focused on other person’s growth.
I bet the other person would feel different being with you!

Unconditional Love

You can’t break ego.
Who wants to break ego, if not the ego itself?
Ego can only be dissolved.
When the love is infused, it melts ego.
The solidity vibrates.
Tingles are felt.
Dancing waves pervade the whole being.
Which evaporates to reveal the ever-present calmness.

So don’t try to fix things.
Understand there’s nothing to fix.
Because nothing is ever broken!
And take every step to realize this mystery,
By melting your ego!
This is the right action.
A path towards Unconditional Love!

I wish you all a great New Year.
Let 2022 show you the infinite love you are.
Trust! Surrender! Accept! Love!

Metta,
V!SMAY
